Parent Named to 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team

CoSIDA Release

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's junior Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) of the field hockey team has been named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's At-Large First Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), for her combined performance on the playing field and in the classroom.

Parent currently holds a 4.00 GPA as a Chemistry major. In addition to earning the Academic All-District prestigious honor, she was the recipient of 2017 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Scholar Athlete award which is presented to the 2017 Division III NFHCA All-American honoree who earns the highest cumulative GPA through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. She also has earned NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors, along with spots on the NFHCA National Academic Squad, and Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic teams. She has made her way to Dean's list each semester since she started at Worcester State and was inducted into Worcester State's Chi Alpha Sigma student-athlete honors society this year.

While she is a standout in the classroom, her athletic skills contributed to the Lancers' first-ever Little East Conference (LEC) regular season championship and back-to-back MASCAC regular season titles. This season, she totaled a program-record 21 goals and 15 assists for 57 points. She was named the university's first-ever NFHCA field hockey All-American and garnered LEC Offensive Player of the Year honors. She has only been with the Worcester State field hockey program for two years, and has broken almost every offensive record that the program has, and still has one more season left.

She will enter her senior season with 88 career points (32 goals, 24 assists). She currently stands atop the Worcester State record book in goals, assists, and points in a single season and is fifth on the Worcester State All-Time scoring list.
