Salemme Named Little East Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s senior goaltender, Kathryn Salemme (Boxborough, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey goalkeeper of the week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

This past week, Salemme went 2-0 in net, averaging one goal against with an .875 overall save percentage. She registered four saves in the 2-1 win over Salve Regina University earlier in the week, and then helped the Lancers stop Keene State in the second half with 10 saves.

“Kathryn had an outstanding week for us in goal,” said head coach Alexa Carlson.  “She was instrumental in securing our win against Keene with her quick decision making skills and reflexes.”

“She is a seasoned veteran who controls her defense and knows when an important save is needed,” stated Carlson. “She has the monumental task of making sure her defense is in the correct positions as well as minding the net. We trust her implicitly and I expect she'll continue to be a key performer for us this season.”

The Lancers resume action Wednesday (Sep. 13) when they host WPI in a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Coughlin Field.
