Antonelli's Hat Trick Lifts Field Hockey Past Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) scored three goals as Worcester State defeated Westfield State 4-0 in Little East Conference action Wednesday night at Alumni Field.

Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) got things going for the Lancers late in the first half when she finished off a nice feed from Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) to make it 1-0 Worcester State. The goal snapped a streak of 16 consecutive saves for Owls' goalkeeper Katie Vamosi (Oliver Ames / Easton, Mass.).

Worcester struck again when Olivia Antonelli slid one past the pad of Vamosi after a crisp pass from Cassidy Windler (Wachusett / Holden, Mass.) to make it 2-0 Lancers.

It was all Worcester State in the first half of play, as the Lancers outshot the Owls 19-0 in the first half.

In the second half, the Lancers picked up right where they left off as Antonelli potted her second and third goals in the span of 46 seconds to make it 4-0 Worcester State.

The Owls could not muster up an attack, as the Lancers dominated play, outshooting Westfield State 33-0 in the game.

The Westfield State goalkeepers provided a bright spot for the Owls as they finished with a combined 29 saves on the evening. Vamosi finished with 21 saves and freshman Riley Goulet (Marion, Mass.) ended up with eight. For Worcester State, starter Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) earned the win.
