Field Hockey Defeats UMass Dartmouth 4-0

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Senior Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) and junior Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) each netted a goal and two assists to lead the Worcester State University field hockey team to a 4-0 Little East Conference victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field.

Junior Katelyn Santos (Acushnet, Mass.) gave the visiting Lancers (10-6, 8-3 LEC) the only goal they would need 4:54 into the contest on feeds from Parent and Antontelli, who then extended that margin to 2-0 in the 28th minute on penalty corner conversion passes from senior Jess Wilding (Somerset, Mass.) and sophomore Sarah Duff (Warren, Mass.). Sophomore Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) gave Worcester State a 3-0 edge in the 57th minute on a feed from Parent, who closed out the scoring just over five minutes later after converting a pass from Antonelli.

Freshman Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected the shutout triumph in goal by making a pair of saves for Worcester State, while senior Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) made 13 stops in net in the setback for the host Corsairs (2-14, 1-9 LEC). The Lancers outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 27-6 margin overall (17-2 on goal) and held a 12-4 advantage in penalty corners for the contest.

UMass Dartmouth hosts Wellesley in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Cressy Field beginning at 7 p.m., while Worcester State entertains Mount Holyoke in a non-league match on Tuesday evening in Worcester, Mass. that also begins at 7 p.m.
