Field Hockey Lands Three LEC Weekly Awards

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Three Worcester State University field hockey players have received Little East Conference weekly honors. The conference office made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

Freshman Carly Duff (Warren, Mass), has been named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week. Duff earned her first collegiate points with two assists in last Saturday’s 5-0 win against Mount Holyoke.

Senior Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) helped the Lancers stay undefeated last week by scoring four goals and one assist including two game-winning goals against Wellesley and Mount Holyoke. The effort earned Hopkins the LEC’s Offensive Player of the Week award.

Cassidy Windler (Holden, Mass.), a senior defender was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the LEC. With one assist in each of last week’s games, Windler was able to contribute both offensively and defensively for Worcester State. Windler has anchored a strong Lancers defense that has allowed only one goal the entire season.

The Lancers will look to stay perfect on the season when they head to Springfield College on Thursday evening for a meeting against the Pride.
