Rachel Hopkins Named NFHCA, Synapse Sports All-American

WORCESTER, Mass. - Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.), a senior on the Little East Conference Champion Worcester State University field hockey team, has been named an All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and Synapse Sports.

Hopkins was announced as a SynapseSports.com Third Team All-American late Tuesday evening, and an NFHCA Second Team All-American on Wednesday morning.

Hopkins led the Little East in both goals and points in 2019, tallying 30 goals and 72 points, which led the nation. The senior set single season program records in both categories. Hopkins was a two-time NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week, and earned LEC Tournament MVP honors with eight goals and two assists in the three-game championship run. In the tournament, Hopkins scored the game-winning goal in all three games, including in a 3-2 overtime win over Southern Maine in the LEC Semifinals.

Hopkins was announced as an NFHCA All-New England West Region First Team honoree last week. She is just the third player in Worcester State field hockey history to receive All-America honors, joining Michaila Parent and Hayley Sutherland, who both received the recognition in 2017.
