Jess Hopkins Named Synapse Division III Defensive Player of the Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.), a sophomore goalkeeper on the Worcester State University field hockey team, has been named the Division III National Defensive Player of the Week by Synapse Sports.

Hopkins closed out the regular season with a five-save effort in Worcester State's 3-1 win over Western Connecticut State on Saturday, with three saves coming in the fourth quarter. Hopkins finished the regular season leading the LEC with a goals against average of 1.04.

Earlier this week, Hopkins was also named the Little East Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the performance.

Hopkins and the top-seeded Lancers will return to action on Thursday for the Semifinals of the LEC Tournament, hosting Southern Maine at 7 p.m. at Coughlin Field.
