Courtney Lavin returns to the Worcester State University field hockey team in 2016 after serving as the Lancers’ assistant coach from 2008-2011.

Lavin was a four-year standout player for the Lancers where she was a two-time captain, helped her team to a 2002 MASCAC Championship and was an ECAC participant in 2004. During her time as a student-athlete at Worcester State, Lavin was a four-time MASCAC Athletic Honor Roll recipient and a Peg Nugent Outstanding Female Athlete award recipient for her a strong combination of academic and athletic accomplishments.

Following her career on the playing field, Lavin jumped into coaching, starting as a varsity winter league coach for Douglas High School. Following her term as a winter league coach, Lavin completed two years as a head and assistant coach for the USA Field Hockey Futures Program in the U-19 and U-16 age groups. She then was on the sidelines coaching for Worcester State before coaching at Douglas High School from 2011-14.

The Worcester State alumnus received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. Lavin currently teaches high school English at Douglas High School and lives in Rochdale with my husband Matt and two sons, Kobe (6) and Keegan (2).
