Jobst Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

 

Westfield, MA --- Senior Dane Jobst (Athol, MA) has been selected as MASCAC Player of the Week for his outstanding efforts in a pair of setbacks for Worcester State this past weekend at the Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off Tournament.

In two games, Jobst averaged 23 points and 15.5 rebounds which included 19 points and 17 caroms in a 90-79 loss against the hosting Warriors in the opening game of the competition before he tallied 27 points and 14 boards in a 66-64, double overtime defeat at the hands of local rival Becker in the consolation game.

For his contributions during the tournament, Jobst received a nod to the all-tournament team as he also connected for .750 from the free throw line for the week with six made three-pointers.

Jobst comes off an All-MASCAC Second-team honor that saw him average 16.5 points and 12.1 rebounds in 25 games for the Blue and Gold. He now has 19 career double-doubles to his credit – including 17 of which game during the 2012-13 campaign for the second highest total in Division III last season.

His average rebounds last year were fifth nationally and he posted the fourth-highest single-campaign total in program history (315).

In upcoming action, the Lancers head to Gordon on Friday for a 7 PM meeting against the Fighting Scots.
