Brooks Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

 

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Paul Brooks (Arlington, MA) has been tabbed MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for his standout efforts in a 1-3 week for Worcester State.

The 6-9 center averaged 7.0 points and 9.0 rebounds which included double-double efforts of 10 points and 10 boards in a 75-57 setback against Western Connecticut State on Thursday before he closed out the week with 12 points and 11 caroms in a 96-56 win over UMaine Augusta on Sunday in the third-place game of the Ed Hockenbury Tournament. 

Through the first eight games of the season, Brooks is currently averaging 5.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in 144 minutes as his seven blocks lead the team. He is eighth in the MASCAC in total rebounds (46) and 10th in average while he has connected for .512 percent of his shots from the field on the year (21-41).

Both double-doubles on the week marked the first and second of his collegiate career.

The Blue and Gold (1-7) have two games remaining on their fall semester slate. After heading to Clark for a crosstown rivalry matchup on Tuesday, the Lancers take on Springfield on the road. Both contests featured 7 PM tip-offs.
