Jobst, Brooks Honored With WACBA, MASCAC Men's Basketball Weekly Laurels

 

Westfield, MA --- Senior Dane Jobst (Athol, MA) and freshman Paul Brooks (Arlington, MA) have both received Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and Worcester Area County Basketball Association (WACBA) accolades for their respective contributions in a 1-1 week for Worcester State.

Jobst was named the Co-MASCAC and WACBA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for averaging 21.5 points and 17 rebounds while shooting .515 percent from the floor (17-33).

En route to his third MASCAC Player of the Week nod of the campaign, Jobst logged game highs in both of his starts which included 19 points and 18 boards in a 72-70 triumph over Fisher before he added 24 points and 16 caroms in an 83-77 loss against MCLA.

Among leaders in the conference, Jobst tops the seven-team league in points (286), rebounds per game (12.2 RPG) and total boards (158) while he is second the MASCAC points per game (18.2 PPG). Jobst is also in the top 15 in both free throw percentage (8th - .714) and field goal percentage (14th – .425).

As of January 12, Jobst is seventh in the NCAA Division III in total rebounds and 10th in average. Jobst also has the 21st highest points per game average in New England.

Brooks, who earned his second MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week certificate, averaged 11.0 points and 8.5 caroms for the Lancers this past week. His efforts included 14 points, 10 boards and two blocks in WSU's setback against MCLA after he tallied eight points and registered seven rebounds in their victory over Fisher.  

Through his first 13 games of the campaign, Brooks is averaging 5.8 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game, totals which are fourth and second on the squad, respectively. With 13 blocks to his credit, Brooks also leads the squad while the total is also tied for the fourth-best sum in the MASCAC.

The Lancers continue their MASCAC schedule with an away match-up against Salem State tonight at 7:30 before they take on conference rival Bridgewater State on Saturday at Assumptions Laska Gymnasium in a 3 PM tip-off.
