Westfield, MA --- Freshman Noris Cuevas-Nova (Amherst, MA) has been selected this week's MASCAC Rookie of the Week for his standout efforts in a 2-0 week for Worcester State.
Cuevas-Nova averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in both games including 16 points and seven boards in a 69-66 triumph over Westfield State before he finished off the week with a 15 point performance in a 70-53 victory over Westfield State.
He connected on .556 from the field (11-18) as 25 of his 31 total points came in the second half to help spark come-from-behind wins.
Through his first 18 games of the season, Cuevas Nova is averaging 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while he has also put up 9.0 points and 3.5 boards and 1.8 assists in six MASCAC contests. Among leaders on the squad he is ranked third on the team in both point categories.
The Lancers, who defeated Framingham State yesterday 68-57 at Holy Cross, have the weekend off and will play MCLA on the road at 7:30 on Tuesday, February 4.
