Jobst, Rios Tabbed With NABC Honors Court Academic Accolades

Kansas City, MO --- Senior Dane Jobst (Athol, MA) and junior Brendan Rios (Easthampton, MA) have both been recognized for their outstanding achievements on the court and in the classroom as members of the 2014 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, which was announced by association publicist Rick Leddy.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes student-athletes who are in all divisions in their junior or senior semesters who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, played at least one year at their current school. A record 895 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III along with Divisions I and II of the NAIA were included on the list that included 335 colleges and universities.

Jobst, who was distinguished on last year's NABC Honors Court, wrapped up a sensational two-year career at Worcester State. In addition to being named the MASCAC Player of the Year, he was also recognized as a Capitol One Co-SIDA Academic First-Team All-American and Worcester State's first MASCAC Scholar-Athlete recipient since 2002.

After walking across his degree in Criminal Justice and an outstanding 3.94 GPA, Jobst will pursue his Masters in Public Administration at Roger Williams this fall with the intent of obtaining a job working for the federal government.

In his first season as a Lancer after transferring from the College of St. Joseph (Vermont), Rios had a great year academically while majoring in Community Health. On the back of a dean's list nod for the spring semester, he also earned a spot on the MASCAC Winter All-Academic team.

Rios averaged 15.8 points per game. 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists while he also had a .436 clip from the field and a .354 percentage from beyond the arc with 56 trifectas drained en route to All-MASCAC Second-team accolades.

Other honorees in the conference included juniors Justin Clark (Yarmouthport, MA) and Matthew Daniels (Chemlsford, MA) of Bridgewater State.

The NABC will announce its Team Academic Excellence Awards on Wednesday, July 23.
