FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Despite outscoring Framingham State 45-34 in the second half, the Worcester State University men's basketball fell short in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) game to the Rams of Framingham State Wednesday evening.

1ST HALF
After back-and-forth play in the first five minutes of the game, Framingham State jumped ahead to an 11-3 lead with 11:08 to go in the first. The hosts extended their lead to 13 with 8:08 on the clock succeeding a jumper from Trevor Manyak (Bolton, Mass.) and a layup and triple from Charles Valbrun (Hyde Park, Mass.). On the next possession Worcester State's Emmanuel Bangandozou (Worcester, Mass.) made a pair of free throws, but Framingham State came back with nine consecutive points from Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.) to push the Rams' lead to 20. The Rams maintained the lead and went into the half ahead 35-16.
2ND HALF
Framingham State kept the 20-point lead for the first five minutes of the game until Worcester State's Shaun McCarthy (Oxford, Mass.) ignited a 16-2 run to make it a 9-point game with 11:18 on the clock. The teams traded points throughout the remainder of the game, resulting in a 69-61 win for Framingham State.
COUNT ME IN
- Framingham State's offense was led by Payton who had 31 points, going 12-for-24 from the field, 2-for-4 from 3-point range, and a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. He also collected five assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block.
- Framingham's rebounding was led by Benjamin Roache (Dighton, Mass.) who notched a team-high nine.
- Worcester State's offense was guided by McCarthy who posted his second consecutive double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
- Classmate Cal Howes (Maynard, Mass.) logged 19 points, while Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plains, Mass.) chipped in eight.
- Framingham State held a 43.4 shooting percentage from the field, while Worcester State shot 32.3%.

The men's basketball team resumes MASCAC play on Saturday (Jan. 13) as they travel to North Adams, Mass. to take on MCLA in a 3 p.m. game.
