Eguatu Earns MASCAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman forward, Emeka Eguatu (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's basketball rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday (Feb. 5) afternoon.

 

In a 1-1 week for the Lancers, Eguatu averaged 6.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and two blocks. He scored seven points with 11 boards, two blocks, and an assist in the 63-49 win over Framingham State. Eguatu then netted six points, eight rebounds, and two blocks in the 71-69 setback to MCLA.

 

"He has really progressed this year and become much more comfortable on the court," said head coach David Lindberg.  "His consistency in practice and coach-ability have been a major factor in his progress."

 

The Worcester State men's basketball team hits the road this weekend, traveling to Fitchburg State on Saturday (Feb. 10) for a 2 p.m. game.
