Cardoso Named WACBA Player of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State University men's basketball junior Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) has been named the Worcester Area College Basketball Association Player of the Week.

Cardoso played a huge role in the Lancers starting off their MASCAC season 3-0, averaging nearly a double-double in three games this week with 21.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

Cardoso opened the week with 28 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Westfield State, before scoring 14 points with 12 boards against Framingham State, and adding 23 points with four boards against Salem State.

In the three contests, Cardoso shot 60 percent from the floor, 46 percent from three-point land, and 90 percent at the free throw stripe.

The announcement comes a day after Cardoso was named MASCAC Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Cardoso and the Lancers will look to remain red hot when they host MCLA on Wednesday night at John P. Brissette Court. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
