Men's Basketball Chosen Fifth in MASCAC Preseason Poll

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's basketball team has been selected to finish in fifth place, as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference released its Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon.

Salem State was selected to finish in the top spot, receiving five of seven first place votes and 35 points. Westfield State was second with the final two first place votes and 31 points. 

Also ahead of the Lancers were third place Bridgewater State and fourth place Fitchburg State. 

Rounding out the poll in sixth and seventh place respectively were Framingham State and MCLA.

The Lancers had four wins during the conference campaign last season. Back for the squad is All-Conference honoree Tyler Dion (Barre, Mass.) who averaged 15.6 points, 2.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds while shooting 84.3 percent from the line and 39 percent from beyond the arc.

Worcester State will open its 2019-20 season on the road in the first NCAA Division III game nationwide next week, traveling to Clark University for Midnight Mayhem at 12:01 a.m. on Friday morning.
