Men's Golf Takes Tenth At Trinity Invitational

 

Farmington, CT --- Highlighted by sophomore Brendan Dugan (Sutton, MA), the Worcester State men's golf team shaved 15 strokes off its score from the first round to finish the Trinity Invitational with a team score of 667 for tenth place overall at the par 72 Tuxnis Plantation Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

Paced by medalist sophomore Jeff Durkan (Scituate, MA) (145, +1), the hosting Bantams won the team title with a score of 606 while the Lancers were just nine strokes off of Wesleyan's ninth-place sum of 658 and 61 off the lead.

On the final day of the tournament, junior Bryan Dunham (Tolland, CT) shot a 165 (+21) to settle for 34th place individually.

Freshman Patrick Sharron (Boylston, MA) was three strokes better than his total yesterday as he tied for 37th (167; +23) and classmate Steven Ferraro (Leicester, MA) was -5 for the day with a final card of 169 (+25) which tied for 43rd.

The best improvement was Dugan who fired a 79 on the afternoon (+7) which was 13 shots than his opening round score and tied for the 18th best score of the round. Dugan was equaled 49th overall (171; +27) while junior David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) added 51st (172; +28).

Next week Worcester State heads north to the two-day Middlebury Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
