Rixham Tabbed Co-GNAC Men's Golfer of the Week

Boston, MA --- Senior David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) has been recognized as this week's Co-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Golfer of the Week for his solid performance this past weekend at the Bill Detrick Trinity Invitational.

Rixham tied for seventh individually at the two-day event with a score of 151 (+7) as he was just seven strokes off the front-runner. Rixham also helped Worcester State take home sixth overall out of 13 teams in the competition. The Blue and Gold as a squad shaved 41 strokes off from where they finished a season ago in the same tournament.

Entering his third campaign since transferring from Becker, Rixham has been in the rotation as one of the top four golfers when the Lancers have played in key competitions.

This past season Rixham had three noteworthy performances. He tied for 13th with an 82 (+11) at the Westfield State Invitational to help Worcester State take home fourth as a team before he tied for 126th (167, +23) at the NEIGA Championships which put WSU among the top 20 teams in Division III at the annual all-New England meet.

Last spring, Rixham tied for 20th in a rain shortened Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational (42, +6) as the same score was equaled sixth in the final MASCAC Championship individual standings.

During his sophomore year Rixham was the medalist with a 76 (+6) at Leicester Country Club, tying for first in a spring tri-match against Mitchell and Becker while he was the runner-up for top honors in the Worcester City Cup with an 80 (+8) at Blackstone.

This week Rixham shares the GNAC weekly honor with sophomore Michael Caron (Gorham, ME) of St. Joseph's College of Maine.

The Blue and Gold will continue their fall schedule when they participate in the two-day Middlebury Invitational over the weekend.
