Davis, Rixham Help Men's Golf Place Sixth At Trinity Invitational

Newington, CT --- Senior David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) and junior Jackson Davis (Spencer, MA) both handed in cards inside the top 20 as they both helped lead Worcester State to take home sixth out of 13 teams at the two-day Bill Detrick Golf Tournament hosted by Trinity (CT).

Playing this season at the par 72 Indian Hill Country Club, the Lancers finished with a team score of 626 (+50) which was just 10 strokes away from taking home second place. WSU ended the first day of the competition in second place shooting 304 – 27 strokes better than they did a season ago.

Rixham tied for seventh individually with a score of 151 (+7) and Davis rounded out his tournament tied for 13th firing a 153 (+9). After the first round Davis actually led the field with a remarkable score of 71 (-1).

Sophomore Steven Ferraro (Leicester, MA) tied for 36th (162, +18), classmate Patrick Sharron (Boylston, MA) shaved six strokes off of his first-round score to equal 55th (168, +24) and freshman Eddie Peladeau (Douglas, MA) chipped in with 59th (169, +25).

Rookie Quinn Indio (Acushnet, MA) was one stroke off the pace of his teammates settling for 60th with a 170 (+26).

The Blue and Gold hit the links again next week at the two-day Middlebury Invitational at the always competitive par 71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
