Lancers Tie for 7th at Anchormen Spring Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. – The Worcester State University men's golf team tied for 7th place out of 10 teams competing in the Rhode Island College (RIC) Spring Invitational on Friday at the 6,458-yard Valley Country Club course.

 
 

Worcester State's Mike Jezierski (Thompson, Conn.) was the top Lancer at the Invitational, carding an 82 on the 18 holes to tie for 24th place. Eddie Peladeau (Douglas, Mass.) followed with an 83 to tie for 28th place.

 
 

Steven Ferraro (Leicester, Mass.) and Anthony Bement (Attleboro, Mass.) came tied at 32nd and 36th places, respectively, with scores of 85 and 86, while Luke Robare (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) carded a 94.

 
 

Western New England took home the team title with a score of 300, while the hosts, RIC, took second place with a team total of 302.

 
 

RIC's Austin Cilly (Westerly, R.I.) earned medalist honors, scoring a 71 on the par-72 course. Western New England's Matt Fontaine (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) and John Abbott (Higganum, Conn.) took the second and third slots with a 72 and 72, respectively.

 
 

Worcester State wraps up spring play next weekend when they travel to Cranston, R.I. to take part in the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Spring Invitational.
