Poitras Tied for Lead After Round One of New Englands for Men's and Women's Golf

BREWSTER, Mass. - Freshman Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) shot a one-over 73 and is tied for the lead as the Worcester State University men's and women's golf teams competed in round one of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships at the Captains Golf Course.

The Lancer men are tied for 13th place as a team with a score of 324, while the women are competing only individually on the weekend.

Poitras birdied three times in the span of six holes in the middle of his round, returning to even par after bogeying the three of the first four holes. He would go on to bogey the par-3 17th hole to finish at 73.

Junior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) also had a huge round for the Lancers, and will go into round two in a tie for third after shooting a three-over 75 on Saturday. He was followed by freshman Brodie Coughlin (North Brookfield, Mass.) with a score of 84, and senior Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.), who carded and 92. Rounding out the scores for the Lancers was junior Zack Grenon (Uxbridge, Mass.), with a score of 106.

On the women's side, junior Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) is in 15th place with a score of 108, while recording four pars on the day. Freshman Anna Billings (Meriden, Conn.) is in 18th with a score of 116.
