Men's Golf in 12th After Day One at RIC Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. - The Worcester State University men's golf team opened its spring season Friday at the Rhode Island College Invitational, and find themselves in 12th place after day one of the two-day event at Valley Country Club.

Junior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) led Worcester State by shooting an 81 to open the spring. Freshman Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) followed close behind Anderson by shooting an 84.

Junior Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) shot an 88 to place third on the Lancers, followed by junior Brian Poillucci (North Attleboro, Mass.) with a 95. Junior Zack Grenon (Uxbridge, Mass.) rounded out Worcester State's scorers with a 99.

Johnson & Wales currently leads the event, led by Stephen MacPatch, who leads the field after shooting a 74 on Friday.

The first tee times of round two are slated for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Valley Country Club.
