Men's Golf Finishes 12th at RIC Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. - The Worcester State University men's golf team shaved 14 strokes off of its day one total, but held steady in 12th place to round out the Rhode Island College Invitational Saturday at Valley Country Club.

Johnson & Wales won the tournament, with Rhode Island College's Michael Caparco taking individual medalist honors.

Junior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) led Worcester State for the second straight day, shaving one stroke off Friday's total for an 80. Freshman Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) and junior Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) both followed close behind Anderson, as each shot 82s to tie for second on the Lancers.

Junior Zack Grenon (Uxbridge, Mass.) had the strongest improvement from day one by shooting a 90 on the day, nine shots better than his 99 on Friday. Junior Brian Poillucci (North Attleboro, Mass.) shot his second a 95 for the second consecutive day to round out the scores for the Lancers. 

Worcester State will be back in Rhode Island for day one of the Johnson & Wales Invitational next Saturday at Cranston Country Club.
