Men's Golf Falls into 16th Place Tie After Second Round at Wildcats Invitational

CRANSTON, R.I. - The Worcester State University men's golf team finished in a tie for 16th place after the second round of the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Invitational Sunday afternoon at Cranston Country Club. The Lancers entered the day in a tie for 11th.

Sophomore Mark Clemente (Holden, Mass.) was the low-shooter for Worcester State on the day with a round of 85. Freshman Brodie Coughlin (North Brookfield, Mass.) was right behind him with an 86, while juniors Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) and Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) each shot identical 87s. Freshman Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) rounded out Worcester State's scorers with a round of 93.

Amherst College, which entered the day in the lead by four strokes after round one, won the event with a two-day score of 596.

The Lancers will be back in action on Tuesday as they host the Worcester State Invitational at Blackstone National Golf Course.
