Men's Golf to Join NECC Starting in Fall 2019

MARSHFIELD, Mass. - Worcester State University will be one of four schools from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference to join the New England Collegiate Conference as associate members for men's golf beginning this fall.

Worcester State will be joined by MCLA, Salem State, and Westfield State as new members in the NECC this fall.

All four institutions will compete in the 2019 fall conference championship on October 4 & 5 at Wachusett Country Club, and their student-athletes are eligible for weekly and postseason awards recognition.

The NECC currently boasts five members in the sport of men’s golf in Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Mitchell College and Springfield College (associate), bringing the total number of sponsoring institutions to nine members.

“The NECC is excited to welcome Westfield State, Worcester State, MCLA and Salem State to the fold for men’s golf for the 2019 Championship and beyond,” expressed NECC Commissioner Katie Boldvich. “The conference is committed to enhancing our postseason opportunities and the addition of these four programs will provide for a better championship atmosphere for our current men’s golf programs and student-athletes.”

"We would like to thank the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for their support over the last five years and wish them the best in their future championships."

The conference will begin its wait for NCAA postseason automatic-qualification in the Fall of 2019 with sights set on attaining automatic-qualification status for the 2021-22 season.
