Men's Golf in 10th After Day One of Elms Invitational

GRANBY, Mass. - The Worcester State men's golf team sits in 10th place after completing round one of the Elms Blazer Invitational Sunday at Westover Golf Course. Worcester State shot a team score of 337.

Worcester State was led by senior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.), who had a strong round of five-over 77 on the day to tie for 12th. 

The rest of the Lancers were bunched together, as the other four Worcester State competitors were all separated by just three strokes. Freshman Matt Thurston (Lunenburg, Mass.) fired an 86 in his first collegiate round, while veterans Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) each fired identical scores of 87. Round out the scores for the Lancers was Zack Grenon (Uxbridge, Mass.), who shot an 88.

The Lancers will wrap up the the Elms Invitational in round two tomorrow at Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley. The teams will tee off at 9:30 a.m.
