Men's Golf Places Fifth at MASCAC Championships

WEST BOYLSTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's golf team closed out the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a fifth place finish on Sunday at Wachusett Country Club. The Lancers entered Sunday's second round in fourth place.

Springfield College won the championship with a two-day total of 616.

Senior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) shot Worcester State's low round of the day with an 11-over 83 to finish the championship at 165. Sophomore Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) and senior Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) each shot 86s on Sunday, and Poitras was Worcester's top finisher for the weekend at 161.

Junior Mark Clemente (Holden, Mass.) shot an 88 and sophomore Brodie Coughlin (North Brookfield, Mass.) shot and 89 to round out the scoring for the Lancers.

Worcester State will close out its fall season in two weeks at the NEIGA Championships at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster on October 20 and 21.
