Rock, Tecci Tabbed With MASCAC Weekly Ice Hockey Laurels

 

Westfield, MA --- Junior Stephen Rock (Tulsa, OK/Idaho Jr Steelheads) and sophomore Salvatore Tecci (Franklin, MA/Long Beach Bombers) have both received MASCAC weekly honors for their efforts in leading Worcester State to the IC Federal Credit Union Shootout title this past weekend.

Rock was named the MASCAC Player of the Week while Tecci copped conference Goalkeeer of the Week accolades.

Rock registered four points on one goal and three assists which included the game-winning helper in a 2-1 overtime victory over Wentworth and the match-clinching marker in a 3-1 win over Becker. For his efforts, Rock was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

In 54 career games, Rock boosts totals of 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points. Last season he was seventh on the team with 10 points (4 goals – 6 assists).

He also helped defeat Becker twice last season with aiding on the deciding assist in WSU's 4-3 victory for the Worcester City Cup title and the game-winning tally in a regular season win on January 8.

Tecci stopped 32 of the 33 shots he saw between the pipes for a .970 save percentage in their extra-session triumph against Wentworth. For his efforts against the three-time defending ECAC Northeast Champion, Tecci was named the competitions Most Valuable Player.

Last season Tecci posted a 4-3-3 record with a 2.88 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 667:43 minutes, which was 42 percent of the cumulative minutes played among goalkeepers on the team. 

Among starting goalies in the MASCAC during the 2012-13 season, his goals against average was the third-lowest and his shots on net percentage was the fifth-highest.

In upcoming action, Worcester State continues their season against Western New England tomorrow at 5:30 PM.
