Tecci Tabbed MASCAC Goaltender Of The Week

Westfield, MA --- Sophomore Salvatore Tecci (Franklin, MA/Long Beach Bombers) was selected as the MASCAC Goaltender of the Week for his efforts in a 3-1 win over Western New England last Tuesday night.

Tecci turned aside 34 of 35 shots he saw against the Golden Bears for a 0.971 save percentage.

The accolade marks the second consecutive week that he has been recognized as the top goalie in the conference. He stopped 32 of 33 shots in a 2-1 overtime victory over Wentworth and captured MVP honors at the IC Federal Credit Union Shootout.

In two starts this season the sophomore has stopped 66 of 68 shots faced between the pipes for a .971 save percentage and has led the Lancers to an early 3-0 mark.

Tecci ranks second in the conference in save percentage behind teammate sophomore Drew Case's (Plano, TX/Northern Cyclones) mark of .975. This ranks him sixth in the nation for all Division III goaltenders.

He is also second in the MASCAC in goals against average at 1.00 per game, which places him seventh in the nation, while the Lancers as a team have posted the fourth best scoring defense nationally allowing just one goal per contest.

For the first time in program history, Worcester State has been receiving votes in the US College Hockey Online Division III poll in back-to-back weeks.

The Blue and Gold begin MASCAC play this week as they host UMass Dartmouth tonight at 5:45 PM before traveling to Fitchburg State Saturday night for a 7 PM affair.
