PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Worcester State University men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-2 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) decision to the Plymouth State Panthers Saturday evening inside the Hanaway Rink in a penalty-filled matchup.

Each team saw 19 infractions throughout the entirety of the game. Worcester State served a total of 85 minutes, while Plymouth State saw 74 minutes.

Following a slow start for both teams, Worcester State reached the scoreboard three minutes into the second period when Jim LeNoir (Exton, Pa.) and Andy DeAngelis (Poughquag, N.Y.) setup Kyle Griffin (Marlboro, Mass.) for a power play goal. Just three minutes later, the Panthers knotted the score at 1-1 on a goal from Quinn Carroll (Amherst, N.H.), assisted by Ludvig Steenberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and Dan Dupell (Collegeville, Pa.).

The hosts then scored four additional back-to-back goals over the next two periods to advance the score to 5-1. Chris Zuccaro (Hudson, N.H.) and Steenberg both converted goals on power plays, while Ryan Stevens (Colleyville, Texas) and Ian McGilvrey (Omaha, Neb.) scored shorthanded goals for the Panthers.

It wasn't until the final two minutes that Worcester was able to slide one more puck into the net. Colin Whitt (South Lake, Texas) passed to senior Crissostomos Villarreal (Corona, Calif.) who made the score 5-2 – which in turn, resulted in the final score.

Despite the loss for the Lancers, Worcester State outshot Plymouth State 24-19 in total. Worcester State converted 1-of-7 power plays, while the hosts went 2-for-8.

Plymouth State's Evan Morelli (Reading, Mass.) earned his ninth win of the year following a 22-save performance, while Worcester State's Josh Reinstien (Woodland Hills, Calif.) suffered the loss in 59:09 minutes of play.

The Worcester State men's ice hockey team concludes regular season play on Tuesday (Feb. 21) when they host Salem State in an 8:30 p.m. game at the Hart Recreation Center. Plymouth State also wraps up their regular season on the same date as they travel to Westfield State for a 7:35 p.m. puck drop.
