WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s freshman forward Ryan James (Katy, Texas) has been tabbed the league’s first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men’s ice hockey rookie of the week this season, as announced by the league Monday (Oct. 30) afternoon.

This past week, James tallied his first collegiate goal in the Lancers’ 3-1 opening night victory over Johnson & Wales University.

“Ryan has been a very positive addition for the Worcester State hockey program,” stated head coach Shayne Toporowski.  “He competed at a high level in his first college hockey game which he rewarded with a nice goal.”

“The coaching staff looks forward to the continued growth as a student and player from Ryan,” said Toporowski.  “Congrats to Ryan on being named Rookie of the week.”

The men’s ice hockey team’s next contest is scheduled for tomorrow (Oct. 31) against Plymouth State at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
