Men's Ice Hockey Falls to Anna Maria

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Worcester State men's ice hockey team fell 6-2 against Anna Maria College on Tuesday afternoon at the Worcester Ice Center.

With the loss, the Lancers fall to 4-3-1 on the season. The AMCats advance to 5-1-2.

Anna Maria opened up scoring for the night with three straight goals highlighted by back to back goals just over half way through the period. Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC), Nick Kukuris (Littleton, CO) and Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and found the back of the net in the first period. Nick Pennucci (Worcester, Mass.) wasn't going to send the Lancers into the locker room scoreless and netted a goal off a pass from teammate, Brendan Ronan (Saugus, Mass.) at the very end of the period.

The second period saw two early goals from the AMCats. Kukuris grabbed his second goal of the night on a power play putting Anna Maria up 4-1. Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, Ill.) was able to put one between the pipes as well early in the period. Another last second goal put the Lancers on the board again when Ronan hooked one past Julius Huset (Oakdale, Minn.) with under a second remaining on the clock.

The third period saw an early power play goal by Michael Padgeon (Sellersville, Pa.) to solidify the AMCats' lead and set the final score of 6-2.

 

Ryan Hoff (Brockton, Mass.) started in the net for the Lancers and saw 16 saves in his 13 minutes in net. Blake Bjella (Mesa, Ariz.) also grabbed 16 saves on the night once he took over. Huset saw 21 saves in his time between the pipes.

Next up for the Lancers, they head to Salem State for a conference matchup. Puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. next Thursday, December 5th.
