Men's Ice Hockey Frozen in MASCAC Quarterfinal

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's ice hockey team capped its 2019-20 season with a 6-0 loss to UMass Dartmouth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Quarterfinal at Hetland Arena.

With the loss, Worcester State's season ends at 6-18-2.

The Corsairs dominated the contest right from the jump, outshooting Worcester State 19-8 in the opening 20 minutes and potting three goals. Sean Leonard opened the scoring four and a half minutes into the game on the power play, followed by tallies from John Grealish and Austin Miller.

Dillon Radin and Michael Perrone scored in the second for UMass Dartmouth to extend the lead to 5-0 after two periods. Jimmy Pelton added one more in the early stages of the third to put the contest well out of reach at 6-0, which would hold up as the final score.

Only Grealish's first period tally came at even strength, as the Corsairs netted five power play goals on eight chances. The Lancers came away empty handed on man-advantage opportunities.

Freshman Nevin Tardif (Dunstable, Mass.) took the loss for the Lancers in net making 25 saves in 35:02 of action. He was relieved by Josh Reinstein (Woodland Hills, Calif.), who made 14 stops in a touch under 25 minutes.
