Reinstein and Staif Earn MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Two Worcester State University men's ice hockey student-athletes have received weekly honors from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference to wrap up the 2019 calendar year.

Senior Josh Reinstein (Woodland Hills, Calif.) earned his first MASCAC Goalie of the Week selection, while freshman Petr Staif (Zruc-Senec, Czech Republic) picked up his second MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor.

Reinstein nabbed his first win of the 2019-20 season last Tuesday with a 32-save effort in a win over Stonehill College. In four games played this season, Reinstein has an impressive .944 save percentage with a 1.68 goals against average.

In the same game, Staif scored the first goal of the contest to lift Worcester State to the 2-1 victory. The defenseman jumped up into the rush to score his second goal of the season. Staif is tied for third on the Lancers in scoring this season with two goals and five assists for seven points, and leads Worcester State defensemen.

Worcester State will be off until after the New Year, returning to the ice on January 7 at Connecticut College.
