Men’s Soccer Falls to Mass. Maritime in Regular Season Finale, 1-0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Massachusetts Maritime's sophomore Adam Crawford's (Kingston, Mass.) penalty kick conversion in the 74th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Buccaneers defeated Worcester State University by a score of 1-0 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup Friday evening.

 

THE BASICS

1ST HALF

The first half saw five shots by Worcester State and four by Mass. Maritime. Mass. Maritime's sole shot on net in the first half came at 38:44. Worcester State saw three on net, though, they all were pushed away by Mass. Maritime's goaltender, Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.).

 

2ND HALF

Following dominate play from Worcester State for the majority of the second half, Mass. Maritime's Crawford was fouled just inside the penalty area with just under 18 minutes remaining before converting his penalty kick opportunity in the right side of the net for his fourth goal of the season for the Buccaneers.

 

BY THE BOOK

  • Pruchnik made Crawford's goal stand up by making seven second half saves to earn his fifth win and fourth clean sheet of the fall.
  • Worcester State's senior Jason Barrett (Spencer, Mass.) made on stop in goal in the setback.
  • Worcester State held a 17-7 shot margin overall (10-2 on goal).
  • The Lancers also held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

 

UP NEXT

The men's soccer team will await the pairings for the MASCAC tournament, which will be announced over the weekend.
