Men's Soccer Stopped by Framingham State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University men's soccer team fell to the Framingham State Rams by a score of 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Coughlin Field.

With the win, the Rams improve their record to 10-5-2 (4-0-2 in MASCAC). The Lancers fall to 6-7-2 (3-2-1 in MASCAC) with the loss.

The Lancers struck first in the 30th minute with a goal off the foot of Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass.). Tomas Caneira (Dartmouth, Mass.) found a gap in the defense and placed a pass which allowed Brasil to score.

A Worcester State foul in the box in the 33rd minute gave the Rams an opportunity to tie the score on a penalty kick. Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.) took the kick and sent it to the bottom left corner of the net to even the score at one.

Another Worcester State foul led to the Rams' second goal of the game. Bryce Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) lined up a free kick from nearly 30 yards out and sent a shot past the Lancers' goalkeeper. Framingham State would take a 2-1 lead in the 43rd minute.

The Rams kept their 2-1 lead into halftime. Framingham State held a 7-3 shot advantage after the first half.

Nardizzi and Akeem Bucknor (Manchester, Jamaica) added insurance markers in the 89th and 90th minutes, bringing the score to its final of 4-1.

Corey Davidge (Blackstone, Mass.) ended up with the win for the Rams, recording one save. Henri Guilmette (Franklin, Mass.) finished with the loss, despite his four saves.

The Lancers will take on MIT for their next match at home on Wednesday, October 24, with the game starting at 7 p.m. Framingham State will host Lasell College on Wednesday, October 24 kicking off at 4:30 p.m.
