Brasil & DeMelo Named MASCAC All-Conference

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Clayton DeMelo (Acushnet, Mass.) and Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass.), of the Worcester State University men's soccer team, earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference recognition this season. The announcement came from the conference office on Wednesday morning.

DeMelo, a freshman, was named to the All-Conference First Team as a defender and Brasil, a senior, earned Second Team honors as a forward.

DeMelo started all 19 games for the Lancers this season, the only freshman to do so for Worcester State. He helped lead the Lancers to a 1.27 goals against average, good for third in the MASCAC.

Brasil led the Lancers in points during his senior season with 21, good for sixth in the conference. He was also fifth in the conference in goals with eight. This is Brasil’s fourth consecutive year on the All-Conference second team, after being named to the First Team in his sophomore season and Second Team his freshman and junior seasons.

DeMelo and Brasil helped lead the Lancers to a 7-9-3 record, including a 4-2-1 conference record. This record was good for the fourth seed in the MASCAC Tournament, where they advanced to the semifinals.
