Koroma Heads Home OT Winner as Men's Soccer Bests Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. - Senior Alfred Koroma (Millbury, Mass.) scored in the seventh minute of overtime as the Worcester State University men's soccer team downed Dean College 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Lippert Field.

With the win, Worcester State snaps its two-game skid and improves to 2-4-0 on the season.

Dean carried a lead into the halftime break on a goal with exactly three minutes left in the first half, but were unable to maintain their advantage as the Lancers controlled the play throughout the contest. Worcester State finally broke through in the 69th minute on an penalty kick goal from junior Lincoln Henry (Kingston, Jamaica) which would eventually force overtime.

As the rain started to beat down midway through the first overtime period, Henry broke down the left side, feeding a ball in front of the net, where Koroma went up for a header and buried the game-winner.

Henri Guilmette (Franklin, Mass.) got the win in goal for Worcester State, turning aside five Bulldog shots. Bryce Antoch made 13 saves for Dean to keep his team alive through regulation time. Worcester State held a 24-8 edge in shots in the game, with a 17-4 edge after halftime.

Worcester State will look to carry the momentum into a contest against UMass Boston at Coughlin Field on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
