Men's Soccer Earns Four MASCAC All-Conference Selections

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Four members of the Worcester State University men’s soccer team have earned MASCAC All-Conference selections, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Laszlo Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) was Worcester State’s lone First Team selection. Goalkeeper Henri Guilmette (Franklin, Mass.), midfielder Prince Gyau (Worcester, Mass.), and forward Ethan Melia (Shrewsbury, Mass.) all landed spots on the Second Team.

In his first season with the Lancers, Dorogi proved a key piece to the Lancer offense in 2019. Starting and playing in 17 games for Worcester State, the sophomore scored three goals, and was tied for the team lead with four assists.

Guilmette, a senior for Worcester State, earns his first All-MASCAC award. The goalkeeper played in every minute of every game for the Lancers this season, finishing with a 1.32 goals against average and .803 save percentage. Guilmette recorded four shutouts on the season, and ranked in the top three in the conference in all three categories. He also led the MASCAC with 110 saves on the season.

Gyau, a defensive midfielder, appeared in 18 games for Worcester State, making 12 starts. Gyau helped the Lancer backline to the second best defense in the conference this season, allowing just 1.32 goals per game. The junior was also a key piece of four Worcester State shutouts on the year.

Melia rounds out the MASCAC All-Conference honors for the Lancers. The senior was tied for Worcester State’s lead with seven goals on the year, which included a team-high three game-winning goals. In select situations, Melia would also flip ends of the field and play center back for the Lancers, showing off his versatility on the pitch.

All four players receive MASCAC All-Conference recognition for the first time in their collegiate careers.
