Final
Worcester State: 1
UMass-Dartmouth: 1
How it Happened:
It would be an intense start to the Lancers meeting with the Corsairs today with a penalty kick and free kick awarded to Worcester State in the first five minutes. The tone would be set early as both teams hustled and worked up and down the field looking to find the net in the non-conference action. Worcester State would grab the first goal in the 32' minute off a free kick by sophomore Jacob Barcelos (East Providence, RI). The Corsairs would spend the remainder of the half looking to find the equalizer but the Lancer defensive unit shut down all their attempts until the 44' minute when they were able to put a shot past junior Tobias Schneider (Hudson, WI) to force a 1-1 game into the half time break.
The back 45 would see the same intensity of the opening action with each team still struggling to find the net, causing tensions to continue to rise on the field. The battle would continue to rage down the field as each team gave it their all to find the winning connection. Each team gave it their best go, with the Lancers even ending the game with a free kick opportunity but neither team was able to find the netting again, closing out the day with a 1-1 tie.
Schenider would wrap up the action with four saves while junior SJ Aquino (Mons, Belgium) and Barcelos led the Lancers with five shot attempts in the game.
