Johnson, Gibson, Harmon Honored With MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Laurels

Westfield, MA --- Senior Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT), junior Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) and freshman Markiesh Harmon (Leominster, MA) have all been tabbed with MASCAC Weekly Awards for their respective performances in their season-opening meet at the UMass Boston Open.

Gibson, who was named the MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week, placed first in the 60 meter hurdles (8.10) and placed second overall in the 200 meters (22.52).

With his outstanding performance on the track in the hurdles, Gibson put up the best time in the NCAA Division III while his 200 split qualified him for the Open New England Championships in February at Boston University.

Gibson returns to the track as the defending NCAA Division III National Champion in the 60 meter hurdles. His time this past weekend was 0.06 seconds off his school-record time that helped him earn the crown at North Central College last season.

Johnson was selected as the Co-MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week. He put up a third place leap in the high jump (6.6-75/2.00 meters) which helped him stamp a ticket to the Open New England Championships.

In back-to-back indoor seasons, Johnson has finished as the runner-up at the Division III New England Championships in the high jump. In his final campaign, he looks to place at the Open New England's and try to earn a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Harmon was recognized for his outstanding effort in his first collegiate meet as the MASCAC Rookie of the Week. He placed fifth in the long jump (21-3.5/6.49 meters) and added a finish of 20th in the 200 meters (23.65).

Fresh off the gridiron playing in nine games at defensive back for the Lancers, he added his name to the list of Division III New England qualifiers with his mark in the long jump.

All three will get a chance to better their heights, times and distances in their respective events when they return to the Reggie Lewis Center this Saturday with their final meet of the fall semester at the Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern.
