Gibson Earns Corvais ECAC Division III New England Track Athlete of the Week Honor

 

Centerville, MA --- Junior Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) has been tabbed with Corvais Co-ECAC Division III New England Track Athlete of the Week honors after a standout effort this past weekend at the Dartmouth Relay's.

Gibson placed second overall in the 60 meter hurdles (8.13) and sprinted to the 11th fastest time in the NCAA Division III with the top spot in the trials of the 60 meters (7.00). He finished his afternoon by running the anchor leg of the 4x200 meter relay squad that placed third overall (1:33.11).

Through his first two meets of the season, Gibson has put up a trio of Top 15 times in the latest NCAA Indoor Track & Field rankings include the best 60 meter hurdles split nationally (8.10), the 12th fastest time in the 200 meters (22.52) and his outstanding performance in the 60 meters on Sunday.

His ranks in among Division III New England schools in each event are first, second and third, respectively. In the Open New England rankings, which include track & field student-athletes from all three divisions, he is second in the 60 meter hurdles, eighth in the 60 meters, 13th in the 200 meters.

As a team the Lancers were ranked 30th in the opening USTFCCCA National Composite Index Top 25 Poll.  

Gibson shared the weekly award with sophomore Zach Miller (Rochester, NH) of Southern Maine.

Next week the Blue and Gold will compete at the Tufts Invitational.
