Sliwoski Selected Co-MASCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Westfield, MA --- Junior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) has been named Co-MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week for his outstanding efforts in the heptathlon and for helping pace #25 Worcester State to a top 10 finish at the Division III New England Championships.

For the second straight season, Sliwoski earned All-New England accolades with third place as he eclipsed his own mark with 4,670 points which was good for third place – just 126 points off of the lead. Individually, his six points helped the Lancers take home eighth overall among 30 scoring teams in attendance.

Sliwoski finished second among 12 competitors in the pole vault (12-1.50/3.95 meters) while he was third in the 60 meter hurdles (8.82), long jump (20-10.75/6.37m) and shot put (39-11.50/12.18m) as well as fifth in the 60 meters (7.50). His 1,000 split (2:57.40) and high jump (5-9.75/1.76m) placed as top nine times and heights.

Nationally, Sliwoski moved up to 22nd on the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship list (4,694 points*), which is just 625 points off of the national leader and 2013 Decathlon National Champion, Eric Larson (Waverly, IA). Sliwoski is just 80 points away the top 15, which automatically are chosen for nationals.

Last season, Sliwoski tallied 4,294 points for fifth place at the Division III New England Championships. He will go for a new personal best in the heptathlon at the ECAC Division III Championships in two weeks at the Reggie Lewis Center hosted by Northeastern, the same exact competition where he set the previous school record (4,617 points) at the NYC Armory last year.
