Barros, Sliwoski Place, Men's Indoor Track Tie For 39th At ECACs

 

New York City, NY --- Senior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) placed fourth in the heptathlon with 4,424 points while sophomore Jared Barros (Taunton, MA) notched eighth place in the 200 (22.30) as both helped pace the Worcester State men's indoor track and field team to tie for 39th place at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Rutgers Camden at the NYC Armory.

The Lancers notched six points to tie with Lebanaon Valley as Amherst scored 42 points to edge Brockport State (41.5) for the men's crown.

Sliwoski captured his third career All-ECAC heptatlon certificate with the second-best height in the pole vault (21-10.50/3.62 meters), the fifth-fastest 60 meter hurdles time (9.11) and he was sixth in the 1,000 (3:04.60).

The 4x400 meter relay of Barros, freshman Marquis Johnson (W. Hartford, CT), senior Shaun Corum (Billerica, MA) and classmate Stephen Gannon (Mansfield, MA) also registered 14th (3:24.65).

Senior Robert White (Ludlow, MA) marked up 23rd in the weight throw to round out the competators for the Blue and Gold.

Check in on Monday to see if Barros and senior Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) earned berths to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships next week.

 

 




Day 1 Release: "Sliwoski Leads Men's Indoor Track On First Day Of ECAC Championships"

 

New York City, NY --- Senior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) ended his day in fourth with 2,568 points in the heptathlon to help lead the Worcester State men's indoor track and field team on the opening day of the ECAC Division III Championships at the NYC Armory hosted by Rutgers Newark.

In his four events today, Sliwoski was second overall in the long jump (21-2.50/6.47 meters), fifth in the high jump (5-9.50/1.77m) while he added sixth in both the 60 meter hurdles (7.54) and shot put (37-8.25/11.49m).

Other performances included senior Matthew Begley's (E. Bridgewater, MA) 21st place toss in the shot put (41-8.25/12.71m) and sophomore Jared Barros (Taunton, MA) who notched 28th in the 60 meters (7.19).
