Barros, Gibson Compete At NCAA Division III Indoor Championships

Winston-Salem, NC --- Sophomore Jared Barros (Taunton, MA) sprinted to 14th overall in the 200 meters with a time of 23.92 as he helped pace Worcester State on the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this afternoon at the JDL Fast Track.

Barros was making his first-ever individual appearance in the annual National Indoor meet after he served as an alternate on last year's 4x100 meter relay during the Outdoor Championships.

He entered the race with the 15th best time in Division III with a personal-best converted banked track time of 22.20 at the John Terrier Invitational on January 31.

Senior Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) also competed in the 60 meter hurdles for the third time in his career at the NCAA Indoor Championships, but was disqualified in the trials on a rule violation.

Gibson was the second-seeded individual in the event at the Division III New England Championships and what was then tied for the seventh fastest split in event history (7.98).

Today marked the third consecutive season that the Lancers had one or more student-athletes competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
