Men’s Indoor Track & Field Ranks atop MASCAC Rivals at Division III New England’s

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Worcester State University men's indoor track & field team placed 14th at the Division III New England Championships this weekend, ahead of the three competing MASCAC teams, Fitchburg, Westfield, and Bridgewater State.

 

Lancer's Duy Truong (Worcester, Mass.) secured 6th place in the men's indoor heptathlon, with a total of 4,195 points. Tuong secured the first place spot in the men's heptathlon 60 meters with a time of 7.27. Tuong also took first place in the men's heptathlon long jump making a distance of 6.53m.

 

Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) clinched third place in the men's shot put with a distance of 14.83m. Weeks also took 4th place of the 20 competitors in the men's weight throw, with a distance of 16.46m.

 

Three other Worcester State Lancers placed in 15th, 16th and 17th place in the men's shot put.
Anthony Christo (Peabody, Mass.) marked a 15th place finish in the men's shot put competition with a distance of 13.61m. He also captured a 15th place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 14.16m.

 

Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) took 16th place in the men's shot put with a distance of 13.52m, and captured 8th place in the men's weight throw with a distance of 15.09m. Jacob Roumanos (Whitman, Mass.) secured 17th place of the 20 competitors in the men's shot put with a distance of 13.46m.

Worcester State as a team placed eighth out of the 20 teams competing in the men's 4x400m relay. They also placed thirteenth out of the 20 teams competing in the men's 4x800m relay with a time of 8:15.24.

 

Daniel Ross (Foxboro, Mass.) came in at 9th in the men's high jump making a mark of 1.89m. Elijah Mawejje (Woburn, Mass.) registered 14th place in the men's high jump at 1.84m. Scott Page (Baldwinville, Mass.) took the 19th spot out of 23 competitors in the men's pole vault with a distance of 4.10m.

 

Leominster, Mass. native, Markiesh Harmon. came in at 10th place in the men's long jump, with a distance of 6.53m. Not far behind Harmon was Truong who landed 12th place in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.35m.

 

Next weekend, the Lancers men's indoor track & field team will travel to Boston University for the All-New England Championships.
