Weeks and Vieira Place in Throwing Events at Dartmouth Relays

DARTMOUTH, N.H. – The Worcester State University men's indoor track & field team took a small group to the Dartmouth Relays on Sunday (Jan. 8) to compete alongside Division I, II, and III squads and came in sixth overall, as Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) and Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) placed in the throwing events.

Weeks placed third in the shot put as he threw for 15.60m which tops his 15.34m he posted at the UMass Boston Indoor Open on Dec. 3. Weeks already qualified for All New England and Division III New England's in the previous meet. The senior thrower also placed in the 35 lb. weight throw, coming in fifth place with a top throw of 15.77m.

Teammate Vieira came in fourth in the weight throw, registering a top throw of 15.81m. Vieira has already qualified for All New England's and Division III New England in the event as he threw for 16.38m back on Dec. 10 at the Jay Carisella Track & Field Invitational.

Also traveling with the team on Sunday were Eddy Acuna (Weymouth, Mass.) and Jacob Roumanos (Whitman, Mass.) who came in ninth and 12th places, respectively, in the shot put.

A group of Lancers will travel to University of Rhode Island on Wednesday to take part in the URI Heptathlon, before traveling to Tufts on Saturday (Jan. 14).
