Men’s Distance Medlay Relay Ran to a School Record at BU Terrier Classic

BOSTON - The Worcester State men's distance medley relay (DMR) ran to a school record  at the BU  "John Thomas" Terrier Classic on Friday evening while finishing in eighth place overall.

The team of Joseph Grider (1200m leg), Christian Cedullo (400m leg), Marc George (800m leg), and Devin Luce (1600m leg) ran 10:39.11 to better the school record of 10:58.94 set in February 2015.  Only Luce was on the DMR in 2015, running the lead off 1200m leg.

Head Coach and distance team mentor, Coach Al Halper commented, "The guys ran well, but we fell a little short of our time goal. We had hoped to run closer to 10:30, but on a couple of the legs, we experienced separation from the main pack which caused the athletes on those legs of the relay to have to make up ground with little competition nearby, a tough task to accomplish.

"The good news is that the overall pace of the race help each of the legs to run solid splits that equaled or surpassed their best individual effort so far this season," said Halper.  "They also ran well in a field of mostly D1 and D2 completion. The end result was that the guys set a school record and ran well. They had a good night."

The team competes at Tufts on Saturday. The athletes who ran the DMR will run their individual events at this meet with high expectations of another solid racing effort.
