Men's and Women's Outdoor Track Both Selected Third In MASCAC Preseason Polls

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Both the Worcester State University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams were selected to finish third in the Preseason Poll, announced Wednesday afternoon by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The men's team finished in a tie for third place with Fitchburg State University at nine points. Bridgewater State took the top spot in the poll with four first place votes and 16 points overall. The final first place vote went to Westfield State, who finished second in the poll with 12 points.

With 17 points in the women's poll, the Lancers stood alone in third place, narrowly behind second place Bridgewater State, who came in with 19 points and a first place vote. Atop the poll was Westfield State with five first place votes for 25 points.

Both the Lancer men and women kick off their seasons at the BSU Bears Invitational this weekend. Select throwing events will get underway on Friday, while the bulk of the events will get underway on Saturday.
